National Service Scheme
National Service Scheme popularly known as NSS was launched in Mahatma Gandhi Centenary year 1969 and aimed to develop student’s personality through community service. National Service Scheme (NSS) is a permanent youth Programme under the Ministry of Youth Affairs, Sports, and Government of India.
Motto: “Not me but you”
Objectives:
- Understand the community in which they work.
- Identify the needs and problems of the community and involve them in the problem solving process.
- Develop among themselves a sense of social and civic responsibility.
- Utilize their knowledge in finding a practical solution to individual and community problems.
- Develop competence required for group-living and sharing of responsibilities.
- Acquire leadership qualities and democratic attitude.

Under this, students undertake various need-based programs in
- The adopted villages
- College Campuses and
- Urban Slums
during weekends or after college hours.
- 120 hours per year and 240 hours for 2 consecutive years

Special Camp
- A unique opportunity to the student youth for group living leadership, interaction with the community, mutual understanding.
- During the camp, students are expected to stay with the communities where they are holding the camp.
- These camps are 7 days duration.
We organize 13 special camps in 3 different villages assigned by the University.

NSS Regular Activities (2025–2026)
International Yoga Day Celebration (21st June 2025)
The 11th International Yoga Day was celebrated in the Mechanical Seminar Hall with guest speaker Ms. Samruddhi G. Gore. She guided participants through yoga asanas and breathing techniques. A total of 11 staff members participated.
NSS Awareness Programme (14th July 2025)
Organized in the Mechanical Seminar Hall, this programme featured an address by NSS Programme Officer Mr. Y. D. Kokate. He explained the objectives and social impact of NSS. 21 male students, 14 female students, and 5 faculty members attended.
Art and Craft Design Programme (8th August 2025)
Conducted in the SE Mechanical classroom, resource person Mr. Ashok Rao from Jawahar Kala Kendra, Jaipur, led creative activities such as paper craft and recycled art. 23 students and 1 faculty member participated.
Road Safety Education and Awareness Programme (26th August 2025)
Organized in collaboration with United Ways, the programme was led by road safety expert Mr. Sadashiv Ganage and team. It emphasized traffic rules and legal frameworks. 36 students and 2 faculty members attended.
NSS Awareness Programme for First-Year Students (9th September 2025)
Held at Dr. M. S. Gosavi Seminar Hall, Prof. Y. D. Kokate introduced NSS activities and motivated students to embrace social responsibility. 200 students and 16 staff members participated.
Mega Blood Donation Camp (15th September 2025)
Organized in collaboration with Arpan Blood Bank, the camp marked Engineers’ Day and the birth anniversary of Late Sir Dr. M. S. Gosavi. Chief Guest Dr. Deepti Deshpande addressed the gathering. 150 students and 30 staff members attended, and 87 blood samples were collected.
Tree Plantation Drive (22nd September 2025)
Conducted at Gonde-Dumala along the Nashik-Mumbai Highway, 17 saplings (Badam, Tamarind, and native species) were planted. 18 students and 3 staff members participated.
Cleanliness Drive – “Cleanliness is Service” (25th September 2025)
On the birth anniversary of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay, NSS volunteers cleaned the college parking area. 26 students and 3 staff members participated.
Expert Talk on Right to Information Act (29th September 2025)
Dr. Sanjay D. Mandaokar, Vice Principal of NBT Law College, Nashik, delivered an enlightening session on RTI. 28 students and 5 staff members attended.
Mock Fire Drill and Fire Extinguisher Training (3rd October 2025)
Organized in collaboration with Sarang Enterprises, Nashik, the programme included live demonstrations by Fire Safety Officer Mr. Sandip Unde. 25 students and 15 staff members participated.
Awareness Programme on Organ Donation (4th October 2025)
As part of Daan Utsav, Dr. Sanjay Rakibe, Medical Officer at Rushikesh Hospital, Nashik, addressed the importance of organ donation. 63 students and 5 staff members attended.
Constitution Day (Samvidhaan Divas) Celebration (26th November 2025)
Students and faculty recited the Preamble and participated in a Constitution Day Quiz. Prof. Y. D. Kokate and Principal Dr. S. S. Sane addressed the gathering. 300 students and 40 staff members attended.
Expert Talk on AIDS Awareness (1st December 2025)
On World AIDS Day, Smt. Kaveri Gorade, Counselor at ICTC, Rural Hospital, Girnare, delivered a session on HIV/AIDS awareness. 213 students and faculty members attended.
Savitribai Phule Jayanti (3rd January 2026)
The programme was organized and celebrated, to commemorate the birth anniversary of Savitribai Phule, the pioneer of women’s education in India and a great social reformer who dedicated her life to the empowerment of women and the upliftment of society. The 21 students and 12 staff members attended the programme with great enthusiasm and respect.
Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Jayanti (18th February 2026)
The programme was organized to commemorate the birth anniversary of the great Maratha warrior king and to inspire students with his ideals of courage, leadership and dedication to the welfare of society. The 25 students and 15 staff members attended the programme with great enthusiasm and respect.
World Marathi Sahitya Sammelan 2026 (1st March 2026)
The programme aimed to promote the richness of the Marathi language, literature and culture and to encourage youth participation in literary and cultural activities. During the Sammelan, 25 NSS volunteers with 1 staff attended three sessions and gained valuable insights about the role of the Marathi language in society, education and literature.
